Aspire holds its first Governor Conference

The Aspire Partnership today held its first Conference for Governors from across the 8 schools. Nearly 40 Governors came together at Inspire2Learn to hear from a variety of speakers on topics pertinent to their role. Donna Scott, manager of the School Governor Support Service at Redcar and Cleveland Council gave a presentation on Governance in maintained school as contrasted with Governance in Multi Academy Trusts. Julia Millard, the North East Regional Advocate for National Leaders of Governance led a workshop on Evaluating Governing Body Effectiveness and skills audits. The day was rounded off by David Major, Head of Education at the Borough of Redcar and Cleveland, who spoke about Ofsted Inspecting Governance. The Partnership aims to support Governors from its schools working together to support one another and the Conference was the first step in the process of bringing Governors together.
